Website analytics with Independent Analytics

Current as of 26 July 2026: We use the free version of Independent Analytics to understand the reach and use of this website and to improve its content. The measurement runs locally on this website. It does not use a visitor cookie, local storage or session storage and is not assigned to a consent-managed Statistics category.

Data processed and technical operation

The measurement can record the viewed page or post and its URL, date and time, referrer and campaign information, internal search terms, approximate session and engagement information, device type, browser and operating system, and an approximate country, region or city. The IP address is used briefly for geolocation and, together with the user agent and a salt, to create a pseudonymous visitor identifier. The raw IP address is not stored. The salt is renewed daily, so a visitor cannot be recognised through this identifier across different days.

The browser sends the measurement to the same website through the WordPress REST endpoint /wp-json/iawp/search. The resulting statistics are stored in this website’s own WordPress database and are not transmitted to the plugin provider as visitor statistics. Records older than one year are deleted automatically.

Legal basis and your right to object

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are measuring the website’s reach, understanding which content is useful and improving the editorial offering. The configuration and safeguards are assessed in a documented, case-specific balancing of interests. You may object to this processing at any time under Article 21 GDPR by using the direct opt-out below or by contacting us.

The opt-out sets the functional cookie iawp_ignore_visitor only after you click the disable link. It is host-bound, uses the attributes Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, and expires after 365 days. It is used only to remember your requested exclusion from analytics and can be removed again through the resume link.
